“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea... Selah.” — Psalm 46:1–3 (NKJV)
Every problem or calamity is an opportunity to witness the power of our God. Often, we see difficulties as interruptions or punishments, but in truth, they can be stages where God’s glory is revealed. Like watching a performance or a movie, we must pause to truly appreciate what is happening on the stage. In the same way, Selah calls us to be still and observe how God is working, even when life feels uncertain. When we stop rushing and take a moment to look through the lens of faith, we begin to see His hand moving in ways we could have missed.
Indeed, God has not given us a spirit of fear. Even when everything around us seems out of control, we can rest in the confidence that He is still in control. The world may shake, but His throne never does. His peace is not found in the absence of storms but in the assurance of His unshakable presence. Selah reminds us to take a breath and remember that we are not standing alone—our refuge and strength is right beside us.
So when problems arise, do not see them as curses but as reminders of who God is. Each storm gives us a chance to know Him more deeply and to see His power at work in our lives. The same God who calmed the waves still speaks peace over every heart that pauses to trust Him. Selah—stop, reflect, and behold the beauty of a God who turns every storm into an opportunity for His glory to shine.
Father, thank You that You are my refuge in every storm. When life feels out of control, help me to pause and remember that You are in control. Teach me to see every challenge as a chance to witness Your power and goodness. I choose to Selah and rest in Your presence today. Amen.
