“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18 NKJV)
Many of us once lived under the shadow of fear—fear of judgment, fear of punishment, fear of being cast away. But the cross of Christ has settled this forever. Jesus bore the weight of our judgment, and in Him, we have passed from death to life. Hell is no longer our future; eternal life is. Because of this, we can live each day not in dread, but in joy.
God’s perfect love drives away every trace of fear. We are not walking on fragile ground, afraid of slipping into judgment. Instead, we are standing on the firm foundation of grace. His love secures us, strengthens us, and sets us free. Where fear once controlled us, love now leads us.
When fear is gone, confidence rises. We no longer serve God because we are afraid of what might happen if we don’t; we serve Him because we are overwhelmed by His love. This produces joy in our hearts and boldness in our witness. We can speak of Christ freely, love people deeply, and live abundantly because our destiny is secure.
Father, thank You that in Christ, fear has lost its grip on us. Thank You that hell is no longer our destiny, but eternal life in Your presence. Help us to walk each day in the confidence of Your love, to live joyfully, and to boldly share the hope we have in Christ. Amen.
