"For of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace." — John 1:16
The grace we receive through the New Covenant is not a one-time gift, but an abundant and continual flow that empowers us to live fully in the freedom that Jesus has provided. Grace, in the New Covenant, is not merely forgiveness for our sins; it is the very power that sustains us, transforms us, and equips us to live in God’s will.
In the Old Covenant, God’s people had to earn His favor through obedience to the law. But through the New Covenant, established by Jesus, we live in a relationship with God that is grounded in His grace. This grace is not limited or conditional—it is a limitless supply that sustains us every day.
The Fullness of Grace in Christ
The Bible tells us that "of His fullness we have all received." Jesus, in His fullness, is the embodiment of grace. In Him, we experience grace that is more than enough to cover our shortcomings, to empower us in our weaknesses, and to lead us into the abundant life God has for us.
The grace that we have received is not partial; it is full and complete. Everything we need for life and godliness has been given to us through the fullness of Christ (2 Peter 1:3). This means that we are not lacking in anything. We are fully equipped, fully loved, and fully accepted in Christ. Grace is not just a covering for our past sins, but a continual empowerment to live out God's purpose for our lives.
Grace That Transforms Us
The New Covenant’s grace doesn’t leave us the same as we were before. It is a transformative grace. As we walk in the grace of God, we are changed. Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and live righteously (Titus 2:11-12). It doesn’t leave us in our old patterns of sin but empowers us to walk in victory over sin.
We may stumble, but grace lifts us up. We may falter, but grace encourages us to continue moving forward. Grace changes the way we live, think, and act. It transforms our hearts, aligning our desires with God’s and empowering us to live in obedience to His will.
Living in the Freedom of Grace
One of the most beautiful aspects of the New Covenant is the freedom it brings. In Christ, we are free from the burden of the law and the guilt of sin. We are no longer bound by the need to perform for God's acceptance. Instead, we live in the freedom that comes from knowing we are already fully accepted by God through Jesus.
This freedom is not a freedom to live however we please, but a freedom to live according to God’s will, knowing that we are empowered by His grace. When we live in the fullness of grace, we experience true freedom—freedom from condemnation, freedom from fear, and freedom to walk in God’s calling for our lives.
Grace to Love and Serve Others
The grace we have received is not meant to be kept to ourselves—it is meant to flow through us to others. Jesus said, “Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). As we experience God’s grace in our own lives, we are called to extend that same grace to others.
Grace enables us to forgive those who have wronged us, to love those who are difficult to love, and to serve others selflessly. The more we experience God’s grace, the more we are able to reflect it to the world around us. Grace compels us to be vessels of love, compassion, and kindness, sharing the goodness of God with everyone we meet.
Today’s Reflection
Are you walking in the fullness of God’s grace? Do you see grace as an abundant, ongoing supply that empowers you for every area of your life? Take a moment today to reflect on the fullness of grace you have received in Christ. Embrace the freedom, transformation, and empowerment that come with living in God’s grace.
“Father, thank You for the fullness of grace that is ours in Christ. I embrace the power of Your grace to transform my life. Help me to live in the freedom You have given me, and empower me to love and serve others with the same grace You have shown me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
