The Spirit of Might: Power to Do the Impossible

“…to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.” — Ephesians 3:16, Isaiah 11:2c, Acts 1:8, Zechariah 4:6

There’s a kind of strength that doesn’t come from effort, talent, or trying harder. It’s a strength not our own—a supernatural might given by the Spirit of God. The same Spirit of Might who rested upon Jesus now lives in us, and He strengthens us to do what we cannot do alone.

We often imagine the Spirit’s power as something outwardly spectacular—like miracles, healing, or raising the dead. And yes, God still does those things. But the might we often need is far more personal. It’s the power to love the unlovable. To forgive people who aren’t even sorry. To endure suffering without bitterness. To keep believing when everything in life says give up. These are impossible without the Spirit — not magic, but mercy; not explosions, but endurance.

The world tells us to push through and stay strong, but the Spirit invites us to lean in and trust. Paul wrote about this kind of strength when he said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). We don’t have to be the strong ones—we carry the One who is strong. The Spirit of Might strengthens our inner man, gives us power to endure, and helps us overcome in ways that no self-effort ever could.

Jesus was filled with the Spirit of Might. He endured the cross, resisted every temptation, and rose victorious. And now, He lives in us through His Spirit. We are not left to rely on our own strength. We are sons and daughters led, loved, and empowered by the same Spirit who carried Christ.

Father, thank You for giving us the Spirit of Might. We confess that we often try to carry things on our own. But today, we choose to rely on Your Spirit. Strengthen us in our weakness. Empower us to love, forgive, and endure beyond our natural ability. Let Your power be seen in our lives—not for our glory, but for Yours. Amen.
